Indonesia

Forging a relationship with the world’s largest Muslim country

AJC’s Asia Pacific Institute (API) strives to help Israel, the U.S., and the global Jewish community strengthen relations with Indonesia, the fourth-largest country in the world and the country with the world’s largest Muslim population. Our work is especially vital because Israel and Indonesia do not currently have official diplomatic ties.

The results of API’s decade-long engagement with Indonesia are most evident in the relationships we have cultivated with Indonesian diplomats in Washington, D.C, and New York, as well as with the U.S.-Indonesia Society (USINDO), the premier non-governmental organization devoted to promoting mutual understanding between Indonesia and the U.S.

API also engages with Indonesian religious and community leaders to promote Indonesia’s historic experience of religious tolerance and pluralism.
