AJC is dismayed that Colombian President Juan Manuel Santos, just prior to leaving office, recognized a Palestinian state despite his commitment during his tenure not to do so.
For now, the US, Israel, the EU and some Arab states appear more willing to help the Palestinians in Gaza than their own leaders. This, of course, is not new. It is the tragic ongoing curse of Palestinian history.
“We are inspired by the many accomplishments of this small community over the last eight decades,” said Dina Siegel Vann, Director of AJC’s Belfer Institute for Latino and Latin American Affairs.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu will hold meetings in European capitals June 4-7. He will confer with German Chancellor Angela Merkel, British Prime Minister Theresa May, and French President Emmanuel Macron, and will attend several events for the France-Israel cross-cultural season.
