In July 2024, the Massachusetts legislature established the Massachusetts Special Commission on Combating Antisemitism (the Commission) to examine the growing impact of antisemitism across the Commonwealth and recommend strategies for addressing it. The Commission met for more than one year, held 16 public meetings, and heard from more than 200 witnesses, including education experts, community leaders, students, interested members of the public, and others.

American Jewish Committee, Jewish Federations of North America, the Anti-Defamation League (ADL), Conference of Presidents of Major American Jewish Organizations (COP), and StandWithUs (SWU) have released a Jewish Students' Bill of Rights, calling on schools and districts to take six concrete steps to ensure that every Jewish student can attend school without fear of harassment, bias, or shame. The document arrives as new data identifies K-12 schools as one of the few settings where antisemitic incidents have not declined, and as the High Holidays fall within the first weeks of the school year in most districts.

On Tuesday, August 18 AJC's Center for Education Advocacy explored how confronting antisemitism and fostering democratic culture go hand in hand. Learn how CEA partners with K-12 schools, colleges and universities, policymakers, and community leaders to nurture educational environments committed to pluralism, critical thinking, and civic discourse.

College should be a place where you can learn, grow, express your views, and participate fully in campus life without fear of discrimination or harassment. All students have rights—and colleges have responsibilities. Understanding both can help you respond effectively when challenges arise.

AJC offers this guidance to help K-12 administrators make thoughtful, well-informed choices and avoid common pitfalls when evaluating and choosing externally provided education about antisemitism.

In today’s fast-paced and emotionally charged digital world, social media can be both empowering and overwhelming for students, especially when issues related to identity, antisemitism, and current events dominate their feeds. Developed by AJC’s Center for Education Advocacy, this guidance offers practical strategies to help Jewish students engage with social media in ways that are emotionally safe and responsible.

The Jewish people are often discussed in terms of religion alone, but Jewish identity is far more layered: encompassing religion, ancestry, peoplehood, culture, history, and ongoing connection to the Land of Israel. As a Jewish teen in public school, I found that participating in the LFT program this year was a very valuable experience. The program taught me the importance of Jewish advocacy, how to use my voice to prompt change, how to debate respectfully and effectively, and not to be afraid to openly express my opinions.

Often, communities tell us “thoughts and prayers” when this happens to us. But now it's not enough. Interfaith communities need to do more than say that we are in their prayers and thoughts.

Despite the promise of "never again," Jewish communities globally are once again facing an unprecedented wave of violence. Following the tragic events of October 7th, 2023, a record number of Jews have been targeted, with antisemitic incidents spiking by over 400%.

Incidents of discrimination in schools, including antisemitism, are harmful to students, disrupt learning, and erode trust across the school community. Schools should respond promptly to stop discrimination, address harm, restore equal access to education, and prevent the issue from recurring.

Following advocacy by AJC’s Center for Education Advocacy (CEA), members of the Modern Language Association (MLA) recently rejected Resolution 2026-1, an anti-Israel measure that sought to dismiss concerns about antisemitism as “weaponized” while falsely accusing Israel of genocide.
