In the mid-20th century, more than 800,000 Jews left or were driven from their homes in Arab nations and Iran, but their stories often go untold. The vast majority of these Jews faced persecution and violence, had to flee their homes, and left the countries where they had lived for centuries, even millennia, because of their Jewish identity. On August 1, 2022, American Jewish Committee (AJC) launched The Forgotten Exodus, the first-ever podcast series focused exclusively on these stories. Each Monday, new episodes of The Forgotten Exodus will delve into the rich, yet little-known heritage of Jews from Arab nations and Iran. Join us as we celebrate the series premiere with host Manya Brachear Pashman and cartoonist and musician Carol Isaacs who will share more about her family’s flight from Iraq as captured in her graphic memoir and animated film, The Wolf of Baghdad.
