While the LGBTQ Jewish community has created phenomenal spaces specifically for LGBTQ Jews, many advocates are concerned about antisemitism and anti-Israel rhetoric in non-Jewish LGBTQ communities. After recent incidents at the Chicago and D.C. Dyke Marches, many LGBTQ Jews are advocating for spaces that embrace both their Jewish and queer identities. In this Remote ACCESS conversation, LGBTQ advocates Rachael Fried, Executive Director of Jewish Queer Youth (JQY), and Arya Marvazy, Managing Director of JQ International & ACCESS Los Angeles board member, discuss the current landscape as Jewish LGBTQ advocates, successes and challenges in coalition building, and opportunities for the Jewish community to combat homophobia and transphobia.
