At AJC Global Forum, Yael and Adi Alexander—the parents of American-Israeli hostage Edan Alexander—shared their heartbreaking story and called for urgent international action to secure the release of all the hostages still held by Hamas.
Edan, one of five Americans still in captivity, was on patrol at a kibbutz on the morning of October 7, 2023. Just moments before his abduction, he called his mother as the attacks began. He was last seen in an undated Hamas propaganda video released early in April 2025.
AJC continues to advocate worldwide for the hostages held in Gaza, fiercely for hostage families, pressing world leaders and international institutions to prioritize their safe return.
*UPDATE: On May 12, 2025, Edan was released by Hamas terrorists after 584 days in captivity and is safely back in Israel with his friends and family.
