AJC Polish-Jewish Leadership Exchange Program to Poland
“The AJC Polish-Jewish Exchange Program is an impressive and yet practical example of successful cooperation between modern Poland and the American Jewish community.”
- Former Polish Minister of Foreign Affairs Radosław Sikorski
The opening of the Warsaw-based AJC Central Europe Office in 2017 builds on an American Jewish Committee (AJC) tradition of pioneering initiatives throughout the region.
For more than two decades, delegations of select AJC leaders have traveled each year to Poland for a week-long study tour organized by Forum for Dialogue, AJC’s partner. Through unique access to top-level decision makers and analysts, participants gain insight into the country’s complex past, Jewish history, culture, political atmosphere, and role in European and transatlantic affairs, while also meeting with their local counterparts – Polish alumni of the exchange program. Participants explore a range of topics, such as the relationship between Poles and Americans; Poland’s foreign policy vis-à-vis Israel and the U.S.; and antisemitism.
Over the years the program has produced hundreds of ambassadors for Polish-Jewish dialogue on both sides of the Atlantic.
Participants have an opportunity to engage with:
- Polish government officials, journalists, opinion leaders, and prominent academics
- American and Israeli diplomats
- Jewish community leaders
- Polish alumni of the exchange program
