The Hon. Professor Irwin Cotler, P.C., O.C., O.Q. Ad.E., Former Minister of Justice and Attorney General of Canada, Canada's first Special Envoy on Combatting Antisemitism and Preserving Holocaust Remembrance, Founder & International Chair, Raoul Wallenberg Centre for Human Rights Moderated by Christen Broecker, Director, AJC’s Jacob Blaustein Institute for the Advancement of Human Rights.

Professor Irwin Cotler has been at the forefront of the struggle for justice and human rights for decades, having made the pursuit of international justice a Canadian government priority and having served as counsel to numerous prominent prisoners of conscience while working to advance religious freedom and the protection of minority rights, gender equality, freedom of expression, and respect for the rule of law worldwide. At the same time, he has consistently sounded the alarm about normalization, mainstreaming, and legitimization of antisemitism; the use of international legal mechanisms to advance antisemitic campaigns; and the threat antisemitism poses to the security of democratic societies, all of which increased dramatically following the October 7, 2023 Hamas attack on Israel. Please join AJC’s Jacob Blaustein Institute for Human Rights (JBI) for the 2025 JBI Human Rights Lecture, in which Professor Cotler will address the key challenges and opportunities facing advocates for justice for all at this critical moment for the future of the international human rights system.
