Africa’s place in the global community is largely defined by its developmental challenges and opportunities, and by its security and humanitarian concerns. AJC’s Africa Institute routinely joins Africa-related advocacy efforts in domestic and international policymaking forums.
We also raise awareness of the significant opportunities opened up by recent economic development and growing stability on the continent. We often share the advocacy expertise of the Jewish diaspora with African diaspora leaders, assisting them in raising the profiles of their countries in U.S. policy circles.
At the request of the governments of Nigeria, Kenya, and Senegal, the Institute has participated in conferences of the diasporas of those countries in the U.S., and offered seminars on Congressional advocacy to their leadership. AJC has also contributed for humanitarian relief to deal with natural disasters such as droughts in east Africa, the Ebola pandemic in west Africa, and other situations when Israeli aid organizations were deployed.
