Protecting the Human Rights of Religious Minorities Worldwide

International Religious Freedom in U.S. Policy

Felice Gaer, Director of AJC's Jacob Blaustein Institute for the Advancement of Human Rights delivered a lecture for the prestigious 2013 University of Nebraska E.N. Thompson Forum on World Issues. Gaer examined international religious freedom including antisemitism and ways to protect beleaguered minorities worldwide, in a lecture co-sponsored by the Harris Center for Judaic Studies. This year's forum presents a series of lectures on "Religion, Rights and Politics."

Gaer examined how human rights violations committed against members of religious minorities have been addressed worldwide, including recent problems of antisemitism. Gaer examined responses by diplomats, foreign governments, and nongovernmental organization representatives.

This lecture was broadcast to all University of Nebraska campuses and highlighted in the press in The Daily Nebraskan.

In the series, Gaer's lecture was complemented by those of several renowned speakers including Iranian women’s rights defender and Nobel Peace Prize Laureate Shirin Ebadi.
