In honor of Jewish American Heritage Month, which happens annually in May, American Jewish Committee (AJC) San Diego partnered with Dr. Joellyn Zollman to develop a unique curricular resource: 5 mini lessons on notable Jewish San Diegans from history.

From a Jewish teenager whose family helped settle San Diego, to a Jewish ice cream shop owner and his pet turtle, to San Diego’s first Jewish Sheriff, Bill Kolender, we are proud to share the important and widespread contributions of Jewish Americans to our community.

Click here to access and download our mini lessons!  We encourage you to take time to learn about the important contributions of the Jewish community to America’s Finest City and share this resource with your local schools.

Jewish American Heritage Month is a special opportunity to celebrate the important contributions Jewish Americans have made to America since the first group of Jews arrived in New Amsterdam in 1654.
