At AJC Global Forum 2026, Rabbi Andrew Baker was honored with AJC’s Lifetime Achievement in Jewish Advocacy Award in recognition of an extraordinary career dedicated to safeguarding Jewish communities, advancing Holocaust remembrance and restitution, and strengthening the Jewish future through global diplomacy and principled leadership.
Over 47 years at American Jewish Committee, Rabbi Baker helped Jewish communities across Central and Eastern Europe rebuild and thrive after the fall of communism, became one of the world’s leading experts on combating antisemitism, and played a pivotal role in the development and international adoption of the IHRA Working Definition of Antisemitism.
Since 2009, he has served as the Personal Representative on Combating Antisemitism for the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe Chairperson-in-Office, while also helping lead international efforts on Holocaust-era justice, restitution, and remembrance.
This special tribute celebrates Rabbi Baker’s remarkable legacy as a diplomat, advocate, mentor, and trusted voice for Jewish communities around the world.
