Robert Silverman
Robert Silverman served as U.S. Director of Muslim-Jewish Relations at AJC from April 2016 - August 2018.
Robert Silverman joined AJC as its first U.S. Director of Muslim-Jewish Relations in April 2016. In that role, he develops and strengthens relationships with American Muslim leaders and organizations in order to enhance mutual understanding and build support for religious freedom in the U.S. Previously a senior Foreign Service officer, Silverman served in nine overseas assignments, including in Iraq, Jerusalem, Tel Aviv, and Riyadh. From 2013 through 2015, he was the elected president and chairman of the board of the 16,000-member American Foreign Service Association. Silverman received Senior Performance Pay, five Superior Honor Awards, and four commendation letters for work as a supervisor. Silverman reads and speaks Arabic, Hebrew, and Turkish. A graduate of Princeton University and University of Michigan Law School, he practiced corporate securities law in Los Angeles before joining the Foreign Service.
