Lee C. Shapiro
Lee C. Shapiro became the Regional Director of AJC Cleveland in 2007. Building upon an historic foundation, Lee C. has significantly grown and strengthened the organization’s presence and impact in Northeast Ohio. As an advocate, Lee C. focuses on building deep, long-term relationships and strategic alliances across numerous sectors of community leadership including with elected officials, academic, business, and civic leaders, as well as interfaith and intergroup partners. She advances AJC’s mission across the region through effective advocacy, strategic coalition building, innovative programming, educational initiatives, and communication. She brings a unique voice, perspective, and collaborative approach to this work. In 2018, the Cleveland Jewish News named Lee C. as one of its 18 Difference Makers for her contributions to the betterment of our community.
Prior to joining AJC, Lee C. was director of government and public affairs and communications for Adelphia Communications of Northern Ohio. She spent over 25 years in network television covering politics and elections. She served as director of media services for Voter News Service in New York, a cooperative venture of ABC, CBS, CNN, FOX, NBC, and the Associated Press that conducted exit polls, collected, and tabulated vote returns, and projected the outcome of national statewide election contests. Lee C. began her career at the CBS News Election and Survey Unit. An expert in election law, procedure, and process, she continues to serve as a member of the CNN Election Night decision team.
A native of Connecticut, Lee C. is a New Yorker who loves her adopted Cleveland! She is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin with degrees in history, political science, and education.
