AJC had the honor of hosting a delegation from the Bundeswehr, the German armed forces, which included participants from the National General/Admiral Staff Officer Course at the Bundeswehr Command and Staff College. The delegation discussed a range of global issues with a focus on strengthening the transatlantic relationship. Belle Yoeli, AJC Chief Advocacy Officer, addressed the delegation, emphasizing the vital importance of deepening ties between Europe and the United States. Through AJC’s extensive network, we continue to reinforce these relationships, recognizing that a strong transatlantic bond is essential for global stability.

Yoeli highlighted the importance of strengthening NATO and the European Union, noting the significance of these partnerships in the current geopolitical climate. AJC’s collaboration with Europe and the U.S. government remains central to fostering enduring ties that ensure peace and stability.

The conversation also covered AJC’s steadfast support for Ukraine and its territorial integrity. As Russia’s war against Ukraine continues, AJC advocates for Ukraine's sovereignty and future NATO accession, working to ensure Ukraine's safety, independence, and alignment with democratic ideals.

Turning to the Middle East, Yoeli spoke about the ongoing war in Israel against the terror group Hamas and reaffirmed AJC’s firm stance in support of a negotiated two-state solution. While acknowledging the critical importance of releasing the hostages and dismantling Hamas’ ability to repeat the horrific attacks of October 7, Yoeli emphasized that AJC continues to advocate for a two-state solution that respects the aspirations of both Israelis and Palestinians to live in peace.

Additionally, Yoeli addressed the rising use of anti-Zionism as a vehicle for antisemitism, emphasizing that the distinction between the two is increasingly blurred, as anti-Zionism is often used as a guise for antisemitic rhetoric and actions. As global leaders and institutions stand against discrimination, AJC remains resolute in advocating for the safety and security of diaspora Jews, ensuring they can live freely and securely, unencumbered by hate.

As the dialogue continued, Yoeli underscored the shared commitment to democratic values and international cooperation. She emphasized that in a world with increasing challenges, the transatlantic alliance is more critical than ever. Both Europe and the U.S., together with NATO, play vital roles in upholding global security. AJC, through its network of international partners, is proud to continue facilitating these important conversations and strengthening strategic alliances that support global security.

AJC New York extends our sincere gratitude to the German Consulate in New York for their partnership and support in making this event possible.
