AJC Los Angeles was honored to represent the Jewish community last night at the candlelight vigil held at Monterey Park City Hall. At this solemn event, we stood shoulder to shoulder alongside the Asian American community in commemoration of the 11 innocent lives lost on what should have been a joyous celebration of the Lunar New Year.
AJC Los Angeles Director Richard Hirschhaut, alongside several elected officials, community leaders, and faith leaders, shared words of support for the community of Monterey Park.
"The Jewish community... here in Los Angeles, and globally, will stand with [the Monterey Park] community... in that process of healing, in that process of renewal of life, in that process of finding the good. We will stand with you... and move forward one day, and one step at a time, with you."
Asian Americans Advancing Justice of Southern California and several other organizers have created a GoFundMe to support the families of the victims of this horrific act of violent extremism. We urge you to consider contributing to this fund to help support these families in their time of mourning.
