The resources below include key insights on antisemitism including the connection between antisemitism and anti-Zionism, antisemitism from the far-right, the far-left, and in the name of Islam. It also includes explanations of philosemitism, the Working Definition of Antisemitism, white supremacists, Holocaust distortion, conspiracy theories, and more.

Bari Weiss on How Antisemitism Became Normalized; Gearing Up for AJC Global Forum 2022
June 9 2022
As we look ahead to AJC Global Forum 2022, the premier global Jewish advocacy gathering of the year (June 12-14 in New York City), we look back at some highlights from AJC Virtual Global Forum 2021, including conversations with U.S. Sens. Cory Booker (D-NJ), Tim Scott (R-SC), and Jacky Rosen (D-NV), on the launch of the Senate Caucus on Black-Jewish Relations, columnists Bret Stephens and Bari Weiss discussing the mainstreaming of antisemitism, and crucial advice from two young activists on how to combat anti-Jewish hatred on campus and beyond.

Is Kim Crockett Stirring A New Crock Of Antisemitism?
June 1 2022
American Jewish Committee has long been nonpartisan and we have cordial and productive relationships with members of both parties. That makes it easier for us to call someone out when they are behaving badly. Kim Crockett is behaving very badly.Crockett’s latest episode of ugliness emerged at the Republican state convention, where a video of hers contained an image of billionaire Jewish philanthropist George Soros — a frequent target of antisemites and conspiracy theorists — as a puppet master manipulating the strings of DFL Secretary of State Steve Simon and election lawyer Marc Elias. Both are also Jewish.

American Jewish Committee, Scripps Partner to Combat Antisemitism in U.S.
May 31 2022
American Jewish Committee (AJC) and The E.W. Scripps Company have partnered to combat antisemitism in the United States. 160 Scripps employees, including news directors and reporters, participated in two training sessions led by AJC staff experts on antisemitism and media. “Journalists who recognize antisemitism are more effective in covering incidents targeting Jews, and in ensuring their audiences gain a better understanding of this age-old hatred that again is on the rise, threatening society at large,” said Holly Huffnagle, AJC’s U.S. Director for Combating Antisemitism.

AJC Welcomes UN Expert Dr. Ahmed Shaheed’s Action Plan on Combating Antisemitism
May 26 2022
American Jewish Committee (AJC) welcomes the Action Plan to Combat Antisemitism by Dr. Ahmed Shaheed, the UN Special Rapporteur on Freedom of Religion or Belief. The plan, released today, identifies antisemitism as a pressing and enduring challenge that all governments, as well as social media companies, faith leaders and other actors, should be confronting with urgency.
Felice Gaer, Director of AJC's Jacob Blaustein Institute for the Advancement of Human Rights, said: “The special rapporteur’s action plan is an essential roadmap for governments, companies, and other UN experts to follow to ensure that their efforts to combat antisemitism are comprehensive and effective."

When It Comes To Israel, Millennials Are The New Marranos
May 18 2022
Most American Jewish millennials (ages 25 to 40) express support for Israel, consider it an important part of their Jewish identities and remain emotionally attached to the Jewish state, according to a recent American Jewish Committee survey. But this support is costing them socially and professionally. Young Jews are feeling isolated, erased and “othered” by their peers, employers and some parts of the public.

Don’t Just Condemn Antisemitism; Combat It
May 13 2022
When the American Jewish Committee traveled to the state Capitol in Albany early this month to hold a briefing on AJC’s landmark State of Antisemitism in America report, our partners in the Legislature advised us not to expect more than a handful of their colleagues to attend. But legislators did show up — more than 40 of them from diverse backgrounds, Jewish and not, Republican and Democrat, upstate, downstate and in-between. And not just for the bagels. A bipartisan effort to curb Jew-hatred across the city and state must be central to a comprehensive plan to combat antisemitism. It should start with passing state Sen. Anna Kaplan and Assemblywoman Nily Rozic’s Holocaust education bill.

How to Combat Holocaust Trivialization
Holocaust distortion and trivialization, in the form of inappropriate comparisons between the Holocaust and COVID-19, has increased since the start of the pandemic. "Breaking Down and Fighting Holocaust Trivialization" is an educational resource that provides basic knowledge about the Holocaust, explains why recent examples of Holocaust trivialization are problematic, and provides action items for countering this troubling trend.

Understanding the Origins of Antisemitism

March 22 2022
American Jewish Committee, the leading global Jewish advocacy organization, today launched on social media three videos featuring American Jews sharing how rising antisemitism has impacted them. They also speak powerfully about the importance of asserting proudly their Jewish identity to combat Jew-hatred. The video series is the latest initiative of AJC’s national campaign to raise awareness of the severity of rising antisemitism in the United States.

American Jewish Committee Decries Russian Attack on Babi Yar Holocaust Memorial
March 1 2022
American Jewish Committee (AJC) is horrified by Russia’s indiscriminate missile attacks on Kyiv that today killed at least five people and severely damaged the Babi Yar memorial. At this site, Nazi Germans murdered more than 100,000 people, primarily Jews, and for decades the Soviets refused to erect a proper memorial to honor the victims.

American Jewish Committee Statement on Kentucky Legislators’ Use of Antisemitic Phrase
February 23 2022
“While belated apologies are welcome, any elected official willfully using the ‘Jew them down’ phrase is contributing to the spread of a classic antisemitic trope. Certainly, there are plentiful words and phrases in the English language to use in making a point in the state legislature without succumbing to traditional, derogatory references to Jews,” said Melanie Maron Pell.

Use Of Nazi Salutes in Mountain Brook Class Utterly Unacceptable
February 19 2022
Trivializing the Holocaust is so dangerous – those are “lessons” imprinted into young minds and shape their entire world view. It is why I was disappointed when I heard students in a Mountain Brook High School class stood in front of an American flag and raised their right hands, in unison, outstretched with palms facing down — the classic Nazi salute. In an American history lesson no less. A Jewish student in the classroom, along with others, refused to do the salute. But when he publicized the incident, he was reprimanded for making the school “look bad.”

People of the Pod: Does Hollywood Tolerate Antisemitism?
February 10 2022
Should only Jewish actors play Jewish roles? Was Whoopi Goldberg’s apology enough? Should Mel Gibson work in Hollywood ever again? What does a greater emphasis on diversity in the entertainment industry mean for Jewish representation on the silver screen? On the same week the Oscar nominations were announced, Jessica Shaw, a host for Sirius XM’s pop culture talk channel, joins us to discuss the debates, misunderstandings, and, in Gibson’s case, the blatant antisemitism rippling through Hollywood.
Whoopi Goldberg on The View
People of the Pod: Why Whoopi Goldberg’s Holocaust Views Shouldn’t Surprise Us; Daniel Pearl’s 20th Yahrzeit
February 3 2022
This week on “The View,” co-host Whoopi Goldberg wrongly claimed that the Holocaust “isn’t about race.” Though she apologized, ABC suspended her for two weeks. Writer Daniella Greenbaum, an Emmy award-winning former producer for “The View,” joins us to discuss how Goldberg’s comments demonstrate a widespread failure to understand Judaism but also present an opportunity to discuss the diversity of Judaism and comprehend antisemitism in its many forms.
