Dr. Ari Gordon is Director of Muslim-Jewish Relations at AJC, where he builds partnerships between Jewish and Muslim communities around shared concerns while fostering productive engagement across differences. His work is grounded in the conviction that healthy Muslim-Jewish relations are essential to the well-being of both communities as well as to the social fabric of our world.
A scholar-practitioner for over two decades, Dr. Gordon’s work brings together academic expertise, religious engagement, and public policy experience. He lectures widely in educational, civic, and multifaith settings on Judaism, the history and practice of interreligious relations, and faith-based diplomacy.
Dr. Gordon earned a B.A. from Yeshiva University, an M.T.S. from Harvard Divinity School, and a Ph.D. in Arabic and Islamic Studies from the University of Pennsylvania. He is the author of Sacred Orientation in Late Antiquity and Early Islam, a study of sacred geography and interreligious relations in Islam's formative period. He lives in the Bronx, NY with his wife and three children.
