AJC Dallas, in close collaboration with the Jewish Federation of Greater Dallas and Plano ISD, hosted an impactful session of AJC’s Empowered Parents initiative at the Sockwell Center in Plano. The program drew Jewish parents from across North Texas, many of whom were engaging with AJC for the very first time.

Empowered Parents program provides tools and knowledge for effective parent-lead advocacy. The evening featured AJC Director of Training and Education Lindsey Mintz and included opening remarks from Plano Mayor John Muns.

While in town, Lindsey Mintz and AJC Dallas Regional Director Joel Schwitzer also met with leadership at Richardson ISD, Dallas ISD, and Greenhill School to continue advancing conversations about safety and inclusion of Jewish identities in educational settings across the region.

The Empowered Parents program would not have been possible without the assistance of our thoughtful and committed Parent Advisory Committee, representing a wide array of student age groups, school districts, and educational environments: Seth Weinstein, Lexi Meyerowitz, Rachel Leventon, Wendy Immerman, Amber Pierce, and Leah White.

We’d also like to thank our community partner organizations: ADL Texoma, Dallas Area Torah Association, Hadassah Evolve in Dallas, Jborhood, Jewish National Fund-Southwest, PJ Library, Rabbinic Association of Greater Dallas, and StandWithUs.
