Millburn, NJ, November 27, 2018– the New Jersey Region of AJC will honor Alan R. Hammer, a member of Brach Eichler LLC, with its prestigious National Judge Learned Hand Award at a celebratory award dinner on Monday evening, December 10th at the Hilton Short Hills in Short Hills, New Jersey.

The National Judge Learned Hand Award was established by AJC in 1964 to honor the memory of Judge Learned Hand for his extensive range of decisions which he tendered in more than 2,000 cases throughout his lifetime, especially those centering on questions of constitutional rights and anti-trust legislation. The annual award was created to cite leaders in the legal profession for excellence and for their contributions to the legal community. 

“I am delighted to be chosen by AJC New Jersey to receive this year’s Learned Hand Award,” said Mr. Hammer.  “It’s an honor to be considered amongst a group of individuals whom I recognize as true leaders in our profession.”

Alan R. Hammer is a senior statesman at Brach Eichler LLC and has been with the firm since joining as a law clerk in 1970 and as a full-time attorney after graduating from Rutgers University School of Law in 1971.  For nearly 50 years, Alan has concentrated his practice in the areas of investment real estate transactions and tax appeals. He is a former Managing Partner of Brach Eichler and has served on the firm’s Executive Committee since its inception.

The recipient of numerous awards, Alan is ranked in Band 1 in Chambers USA as a “Leader in their Field” for New Jersey Real Estate. He has also been recognized for many years in Best Lawyers in America® and by New Jersey Super Lawyers. Most recently, he was named a New Jersey business icon by NJBIZ and the 2018 Newark Litigation - Real Estate Lawyer of the Year by Best Lawyers in America®. Alan is also a significant contributor to organizations that support the Jewish community, most notably the Jewish Federation of Greater Metrowest NJ. He is currently serving as Major Gifts Co-Chair in support of the 2019 UJA Annual Campaign.
