American Jewish Committee (AJC) Miami and Broward has launched the Broward Venture Council to bolster its advocacy for the county’s Jewish population and to strengthen ties with community and government leaders.

The Council serves as the Broward arm of the AJC Miami Broward regional board. Council members will be asked to play key roles as advocates and supporters to help guide AJC’s work in Broward County.

“We keep expanding our presence in Broward, in part, because there is an eagerness among community members to meaningfully engage on the issues that matter most to AJC and the Jewish people,” said AJC Miami and Broward Regional Director Brian Siegal. “The Council will allow us to tap into and build on that enthusiasm.”

The inaugural meeting on May 6 in Fort Lauderdale featured AJC CEO Ted Deutch, who spoke about his deep ties to Broward, parts of which he represented for more than six terms in the U.S. House of Representatives.

“The Broward Venture Council reflects the best of what AJC stands for: global advocacy efforts making an impact in local communities,” said Deutch. “By empowering amazing Broward leaders, we are building a stronger, more resilient future for Jewish life in Broward County and across the United States. I am proud to launch this Venture Council and am excited to see all that they accomplish .”

The Council is chaired by community leaders Bill Gross and Mirit Teifeld, both of whom bring decades of professional expertise, philanthropic vision, and a shared passion for Jewish communal life.

Sydney Rubin, AJC’s Associate Director of Development in Broward, is leading the organization’s efforts in the region and was instrumental in building the foundation for the Council’s launch.

“There has never been a more important time for AJC’s advocacy, and Broward County, with a diverse community and strong Jewish population, is the right place for us to build and have an impact,” said AJC Miami and Broward President Susan Greene Pallot.

AJC is the global advocacy organization for the Jewish people. With headquarters in New York, 25 regional offices across the United States, 15 overseas posts, as well as partnerships with 38 Jewish community organizations worldwide, AJC’s mission is to enhance the well-being of the Jewish people and Israel and to advance human rights and democratic values in the United States and around the world.
