In the year and a half since Hamas’ October 7 massacre of 1,200 Israelis, the MTA has waged an anti-Israel campaign that threatens to polarize and politicize K-12 classrooms across Massachusetts. Through troubling resolutions, programs, and other initiatives, MTA leadership has encouraged its members to bring to their students a one-sided, ideologically guided understanding of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. In December 2024, AJC New England published a report detailing the MTA’s efforts and providing guidance on how concerned parents, educators, and citizens can take action.
Then in January 2025, it came to light that the MTA had posted on its members-only website a set of “curriculum resources” on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. The resources are overwhelmingly one-sided, anti-Israel, and anti-Jewish. Now, despite mounting pressure from concerned MTA teachers, elected officials, Jewish organizations, and others, the MTA appears to be doubling down. On March 12, 2025, AJC New England published a supplement to its earlier report that unpacks these new developments and the ideology that appears to be driving them.
The MTA initiative is a betrayal of public trust. Teachers should be teaching students how, not what, to think. To learn more, read on.
Details efforts by the MTA that threaten to politicize K-12 classrooms. A series of ideologically guided initiatives have propagated a politicized and overtly anti-Israel agenda that raises grave concerns for the Jewish community, and for all people concerned with protecting the integrity of our schools.
This NEW SUPPLEMENT details the troubling MTA developments since AJC’s December 2024 report, Politicizing K-12 Classrooms: Ideology, Prejudice, & the Massachusetts Teachers Association, was published—including the one-sided, anti-Jewish “curriculum resources” and the MTA President’s failure to condemn them at the State House—and explains the ideology that appears to be driving these actions.
A 5-minute overview of AJC New England’s comprehensive report that details efforts by the Massachusetts Teachers Association (MTA) that threaten to politicize K-12 classrooms.
Leaders and activists within the Massachusetts Teachers Association (MTA) have waged an aggressive campaign that has encouraged K-12 teachers to become pro-Palestinian activists and bring anti-Israel propaganda into their classrooms, according to a report from American Jewish Committee (AJC) New England.
