AJC Praises British Premier League Adoption of IHRA Working Definition of Antisemitism
December 3 2020
“Bravo to Lord John Mann and all of those involved in this landmark decision,” said AJC CEO David Harris. Mann is the British government’s top advisor on antisemitism and a leading proponent of the IHRA working definition. “The importance of the British Premier League recognizing the most widely used definition of antisemitism cannot be overstated,” said Harris. “Hundreds of millions of people around the world follow closely the Premier League’s teams and players. The impact of today’s decision and its implementation can be extraordinarily helpful in the battle against rising antisemitism.”

Antisemitism Threatens Our Democracy
November 24 2020
A careful student can take away many lessons from the history of antisemitism, but one is particularly relevant today: healthy societies do not foster antisemitism. What starts with the Jews rarely ends with them. When societies cannot protect their Jewish population, they will often fail to protect their democracy as well.

Antisemitism Circa 1974 And In 2020
November 11 2020
When I was a kid, I had no idea how to stand up to the bullies and fight antisemitism head on. A few pennies on their own might not seem like a big deal. But the damage inflicted was. It must stop. What do we do? What is our role as Jews and American citizens? We must stand up and call out attacks, physical and otherwise, and demand to be seen and heard. Perpetrators must be held accountable.

The numbers in the most recent AJC survey on antisemitism speak for themselves. But the testimonies and stories of American Jews are just as telling. Read some of the stories behind the survey’s troubling findings.

The State of Antisemitism in America 2020: Insights and Analysis
October 26 2020
This year, for the first time, we carried out two surveys in parallel. Combined, the two surveys form the first-ever AJC State of Antisemitism in America Report. Ignorance About Antisemitism Creates Dangerous Breeding Ground for Hatred of Jews
October 26 2020
Parallel surveys of American Jews and the general public form the basis of the first-ever AJC report on the state of antisemitism in America. The state, simply put, is poor. To the traditional sources of antisemitism — the far right, hard left, and extremists in the name of Islam — we can now add a fourth: ignorance. The lack of awareness and refusal to enable Jews to define hatred against them create a dangerous breeding ground for anti-Jewish hostility.
