This Is How America Can Unite Against Antisemitism
March 26 2024
Hamas’ brutal terror attack on October 7 created shockwaves that are still being felt across the globe. According to American Jewish Committee’s State of Antisemitism in America 2023 Report, 78% of American Jews feel less safe in the United States as a result of the massacre.

Staten Island Jews Can't Go it Alone In The Fight Against Antisemitism
March 20 2024
In the aftermath of the Oct. 7 Hamas-led terrorist attack and massacre in Israel, American Jews were engulfed in a maelstrom of grief, anger and alienation. Now, five months into the Israel-Hamas war, Jewish New Yorkers stand at the forefront of an escalating societal crisis.

Antisemitism Is Not Just a Jewish Problem
March 19 2024
Antisemitism is not a Jewish problem. It’s a societal problem. And just like we wouldn’t ask the AAPI community, for example, to solve anti-Asian hate on its own, we can’t expect the Jewish community to tackle antisemitism by itself. However, according to AJC, 47% of American Jews feel that antisemitism is taken less seriously than other forms of bigotry.

The Worlds of Entertainment and Sports Can Do More to Combat Antisemitism
March 12 2024
Last Friday, Jewish-American reggae singer Matisyahu announced that his sold-out House of Blues Chicago show was canceled “due to the threat of protests.“ It was the third Matisyahu show in two months that has been canceled after anti-Israel protests.

Antisemitism Is No Way To Win an Argument About Israel
March 11 2024
Israel’s war against Hamas in Gaza is not a “genocide.” I write this first, because within three sentences of a column published March 6 in the Sun by Alison Slow Loris, “Our role in conflict's generational violence,” that is the accusation made. This allegation relies on two false assumptions. First, that every death Hamas has reported in Gaza is accurate, civilian in nature, and deliberate, and second, the belief that the Jewish state seeks not avenues for peace, but opportunities for conflict.

Antisemitism is Happening in San Diego. You Can Help Stop It.
March 7 2024
Sometimes the rest of the world feels far away here in San Diego. We watch the crises across the globe and would like to think “no, not here, we’re not affected.” If only that was the case with antisemitism, which knows no boundaries. And in communities where antisemitism has been left to rage unchecked, all of society suffers.

Our Country Finally Sees What We See
March 1 2024
From a large swastika being burned into a picnic table outside Steamboat Springs High School, to Jewish symbols being ripped off the doors of student housing at the University of Denver, to bomb threats of synagogues and Jewish institutions, it has become apparent that antisemitism is a Colorado problem.

Facing Antisemitism in the Wake of the Israel-Hamas war, We Must Cherish Hope
March 1 2024
Last month I returned to Israel for my first visit since Hamas attacked Israel on Oct. 7.
It felt very different. My heart was as full as ever, but my eyes were filled with tears and my soul with trepidation. The pain and fear provoked by that horrific day still feel so present.

Antisemitism Cannot Be Business As Usual for Jews
February 21 2024
In Philadelphia, we are all too aware of how antisemitism has affected Jews, especially since Oct. 7, when Hamas terrorists attacked Israel and slaughtered more than 1,200 innocent civilians and kidnapped over 250 men, women, children and babies.

Rise in Antisemitism is Alarming, But There Is Hope In How to Fight It
February 22 2024
For many Jews, our world was already an unsettling place rife with Jew-hatred prior to the October 7 Hamas-led massacre in Israel. As we’ve seen time and time again, when tensions spike in the Middle East, a spike in antisemitism accompanies it in the U.S. and around the world.

The State of Antisemitism in America 2023 Report: Insights and Analysis
American Jewish Committee’s State of Antisemitism in America 2023 Report is unique. Not only is it the lone resource to analyze five years of consecutive data on the impact of antisemitism on American Jews, it was also in the field during a critical moment: October and November 2023.

Antisemitism in America is becoming like Europe
November 29 2023
The American Jewish community is reeling not just from the shock of Hamas’ Oct. 7 attack but also from the explosion in domestic Jew hatred it has provoked. Antisemitic vandalism, harassment, intimidation, and violence, including an incident last week where Queens high school students rioted over a teacher attending a pro-Israel rally, have skyrocketed across the country. Personal relationships have been shattered by the realization that some friends support Hamas.

There Are Not Two Sides to Antisemitism; These Are Signs of Jew-Hatred
November 17 2023
The October 7 Hamas terror attack in Israel was the worst single day massacre of Jews since the Holocaust. And yet, Hamas’ torture, indiscriminate murder, and kidnapping of innocent people has unleashed staggering antisemitism around the world.

'Never Again' Will Never Have an Expiration Date
November 20 2023
I have not been immune to doom scrolling Facebook, to post and repost in support of Israel. Much of what I read — the obituaries, the stories of those held hostage, the pain of parents and children — is deeply affecting, but one post stopped me in my tracks. A young woman whose bat mitzvah I had officiated at many years ago simply posted, “’Never Again’ Doesn’t Have an Expiration Date.” In seven words she said it all.
