On Tuesday, June 23rd, 2026, AJC Cleveland welcomed community leaders, partners, and friends to An Evening of Conversation & Tribute at Beechmont Country Club in celebration of the leadership and impact of Lee C. Shapiro, who will retire in 2026 after 19 years as Regional Director of AJC Cleveland.
The joyful evening featured a special conversation with Jason Isaacson, AJC Chief Policy and Political Affairs Officer, and Melanie Pell, AJC Chief Engagement Officer. Drawing on their decades of leadership within AJC, they reflected on the organization’s global advocacy efforts, the importance of building strong relationships across communities, and the critical work of combating antisemitism and strengthening support for Israel and Jewish life around the world.
Throughout the evening, speakers highlighted how Lee C. Shapiro exemplified those same values during her tenure in Cleveland. Since joining AJC in 2007, she has expanded the organization’s reach and influence throughout Northeast Ohio, cultivating trusted partnerships with civic, business, academic, interfaith, and government leaders while advancing AJC’s mission with vision, dedication, and purpose. Under her leadership, AJC Cleveland earned multiple national awards for program excellence and deepened its impact both locally and nationally.
More than a tribute to professional accomplishments, the evening celebrated the relationships, collaboration, and community that have defined Lee C.’s leadership. As colleagues, friends, and community partners gathered to honor her extraordinary career, the event served as a testament to the legacy she leaves for AJC Cleveland, Northeast Ohio, and the many people whose lives she has touched.
