U.S. Director, Monitoring and Combating Antisemitism

The U.S. Director for Monitoring and Combating Antisemitism will be the agency’s point person on coordinating and leading our response to antisemitism in the United States. The position will be responsible for developing and supporting advocacy efforts, programming and other activities to combat antisemitism in the United States.

Major Functions:
The Director will be AJC’s chief strategist in the formulation and execution of an action plan, including advocacy campaigns to combat antisemitism in the United States. S/He will be charged with providing guidance to staff and lay leaders regarding legislation, programs, trainings, and other measures to beat back all forms of Jew hatred. The position will also serve as spokesperson to the media, members of government, and other key actors in this fight. S/he will be in close contact with our offices, representatives and Institute directors at home and abroad to successfully contribute to AJC’s global strategy in this fight and apply lessons from around the world to the U.S.
Specific Responsibilities:
- Meet with U.S. government, interreligious, civil society leaders and other influencers to seek ways to protect the Jewish community.
- Monitor issues of antisemitism throughout the United States and draft internal guidance and external analysis as appropriate.
- Serve as an agency spokesperson on television and to print media.
- Alert colleagues in our 22 Regional Offices and other departments and Institutes to incidents of antisemitism in their communities and assist them with responding.
- Ensure that AJC Institutes, Departments and Regional Offices are aligned under the agency’s priority of fighting antisemitism and are working towards the accomplishment of all the domestic goals.
- Make speeches and give presentations to internal and external audiences to raise awareness on this issue.
- Brief donors and lay leaders on this issue.
- Work closely with the Global Communications Department on U.S. antisemitism campaigns and effectively coordinate the creation of complimentary tools and other resources that enhance their implementation by AJC staff.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree and 8 - 10 years’ experience in related field.
- Extensive subject matter knowledge.
- Public speaking and writing ability.
- Fluency with social media.
- Excellent research skills with meticulous attention to detail.
- Willingness to travel.
