The Abu Dhabi conference was surely a significant indicator of an increasingly positive view on engagement with Jewry on the part of religious and political authorities in the region.
American Jewish Committee (AJC) praised the Council of the European Union unanimous adoption today of a statement on combating antisemitism across Europe. It is the first time the Council’s 28-member states have passed a comprehensive measure aimed at mobilizing to counter antisemitism and to assure the safety of European Jews.
AJC has appointed Tomas Kraus as the global Jewish advocacy organization’s representative in Prague. The Czech Republic is one of seven countries in the region that AJC Central Europe, based in Warsaw, engages. The other six are Estonia, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, and Slovakia.
AJC condemns the antisemitic attack directed at Andras Heisler, President of the Hungarian Jewish Federation (MAZSIHISZ), in the business magazine Figyelő.
