About the Honoree
Bill is chairman and chief executive officer of Truist Financial Corporation, a purpose-driven financial services organization committed to inspiring and building better lives and communities. Bill was named chairman on March 12, 2022, and chief executive officer on Sept. 12, 2021, after serving as president and chief operating officer of Truist between December 2019 and September 2021. He is a champion for Truist Financial Corporation’s philanthropy and volunteerism. Bill is chairman of Charlotte Center City Partners’ Board of Directors and is on the boards of several organizations including Boys & Girls Clubs of America, the Emory University Board of Trustees, Operation HOPE Inc., and Charlotte Center City Partners. He is a member of the Charlotte Executive Leadership Council.
Truist has more than 125 years of history in the Atlanta community. Under Bill’s leadership, the company has made significant investments and grants in the Atlanta community focused on building career pathways to economic mobility, strengthening small businesses, and creating affordable housing. Bill also has served as chairman of Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro Atlanta, Achieve Atlanta, and the Atlanta Committee for Progress, and as a board member for the J. Mack Robinson College of Business at Georgia State University and World Affairs Council of Atlanta. In addition, Bill has led many campaigns for Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro Atlanta and been engaged with Junior Achievement of Atlanta, Grady Health System, and High Museum of Art.
