International Interreligious Affairs
Building coalitions of conscience around the world
Since our founding more than 100 years ago, interreligious relations have been a pillar of AJC’s work. Religious leaders are able to speak with unique authority to members of their faith, magnifying their reach and impact exponentially, and serving as key interlocutors for a global organization like AJC.
AJC’s Jerusalem-based Department of International Interreligious Affairs and Heilbrunn Institute for International Interreligious Understanding play an indispensable role in strengthening mutual understanding among different faith groups.
The department also promotes interreligious relations within Israel and connects international delegations with the full spectrum of faith communities in Israel. In partnership with the Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the departments has hosted delegations of African Muslim and East Asian religious leaders in Israel in recent years.
Led by Rabbi David Rosen, the Heilbrunn Institute maintains ongoing relations with the leadership bodies of world faiths, as well as with the major international interfaith organizations. Rabbi Rosen is a sought-after speaker and Jewish contributor to multifaith bodies, conferences, and declarations.
