Remembering the Dead at Belzec: This Could Have Been Me
April 21 2023
Belzec delivered a more intense, personal connection I had not anticipated. Contemporary memorials often include a wall with names of the victims. But there were simply too many victims at Belzec; its wall contains 1,200 first names of victims, all common Jewish names of the era. I stared at the list and suddenly received a huge emotional jolt. There was my name, right there, on the list of victims! My Jewish name: Mendel.

The State of Antisemitism in America 2022: Insights and Analysis
April 14 2023
American Jewish Committee (AJC) initiated in 2019 a survey of American Jews focused exclusively on antisemitism in the United States and, in 2020, began a parallel survey of the general U.S. adult population. Although AJC, the global advocacy organization for the Jewish people, had polled Jews in the U.S. for decades, the Tree of Life synagogue massacre in Pittsburgh in October 2018, the deadliest attack on Jews in U.S. history, prompted a new approach and the launch of what has become AJC’s State of Antisemitism in America report.

OpEd: The Fight Against Antisemitism Requires Global Cooperation and Commitment
March 9 2023
Antisemitism is a toxic virus that continues to mutate.
The Holocaust may have been the ultimate manifestation of what is known as the world’s oldest hatred, but it did not abate following the liberation of the Nazi death camps 78 years ago. In fact, antisemitism has been rising in the United States and Europe at alarming levels, fueled in part by social-media rants, conspiracy theories and naked anti-Jewish hate.
