The 50th anniversary of Nostra Aetate, the document that revolutionized Catholic teaching regarding Jews and Judaism, was celebrated at a two-day symposium co-hosted by AJC and Tel Aviv University.
AJC mourns the passing of His Eminence Cardinal Edward Egan and offers comfort and consolation to the leadership and constituents of the Archdiocese of New York, where he served as Archbishop from 2000-2009. He was elevated to Cardinal by His Holiness Pope John Paul II in 2001.
AJC condemned an overnight attack on a mosque in the West Bank village of Aqraba. Graffiti, including the words “price tag” and the name of a nearby Israeli settlement, Tapuah, were spraypainted on the mosque.
AJC is calling on world leaders to urgently focus on the rapidly deteriorating situation in Iraq, due to the advances of the ISIS terrorist organization, which aims to wipe out any population it deems heretical.
AJC called today’s Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) decision to divest from major companies doing business with Israel a setback for efforts to attain a negotiated, sustainable Israeli-Palestinian peace agreement, and a breach with a Jewish community committed to Jewish-Christian relations.
