AJC’s Jacob Blaustein Institute for the Advancement of Human Rights (JBI) is inviting applications for the Goodkind Human Rights Program Associate, a six-month position that will begin in October 2019, with the possibility of extension. The position honors the legacy of E. Robert Goodkind, former Chair of JBI’s Administrative Council.
Responsibilities of the Program Associate will be to conduct research on human rights issues and key United Nations human rights experts and bodies, and to prepare research memoranda, analyses and other written materials as assigned.
JBI conducts and supports original research and policy analysis on central issues in the field of international human rights. This work is directed at improving the protection of international human rights through the mechanisms and bodies of the United Nations and other international organizations, as well as through the policies of individual governments, and particularly the U.S. government. The primary subjects of JBI’s programming include human rights mechanisms and institutions; religious intolerance, including antisemitic acts; genocide prevention; the prohibition of torture; human rights defenders; and the human rights of women.
Applicants must have a Law degree or a Master’s degree in human rights or a related subject as well as prior work experience in the field of human rights. Preference will be given to applicants who have had coursework or prior work experience focusing specifically on international human rights law.
