Director of National Outreach

Washington, DC

Founded in 1906, AJC seeks to enhance the well-being of the Jewish people and Israel, and to advance human rights and democratic values in the United States and around the world. Among Jewish advocacy organizations, AJC is the leader in the global arena. We are known for our unparalleled access to diplomats, government officials, and faith leaders in more than 100 countries. In addition to our New York headquarters and Office of Policy and Diplomatic Affairs in Washington, D.C., AJC has offices across the U.S. and around the globe and maintains partnerships with Jewish communities worldwide.

The Director of National Outreach is the organization’s force multiplier with elected officials and others in places where AJC does not have a bricks and mortar presence. The Director will collaborate with staff and lay partners to craft and implement a 50-state advocacy strategy, developing and managing political and lay relationships key to AJC success. The Director will also spearhead efforts to reach candidates across the nation in a manner that is both systematized and meaningful.

The Director does all this while adhering to AJC’s core values: Respect, Teamwork, Integrity, Excellence, and Accountability.

  • Expand and deepen AJC’s reach with members of Congress from states and districts where AJC does not have a bricks and mortar presence to ensure our congressional impact reaches all 50 states
  • Play an integral role in garnering broad, nationwide support for AJC’s national campaigns

    Qualifications:
  • 10+ years of experience on Capitol Hill or working with State/local government, in advocacy organizations, in a lobbying capacity, in political campaigns, or in national organizing
  • Ability to work independently, showing initiative and creativity in vision and outreach
  • Capacity to speak with a non-partisan voice, echoing AJC’s thoughtful approach
  • Proven success in crafting and implementing major projects and strategies
