AJC Miami conducts advocacy with high-profile diplomats and public officials, via the media, and through building bridges of understanding between the Jewish community and many different religions, cultures and nationalities. The office is currently expanding as part of a major investment that AJC is making in its Florida operations.
The ideal candidate will be a smart, high-energy self-starter who combines organizational acumen and professionalism with knowledge of the Miami-Dade Jewish community. The candidate must also be a consummate team player who works effectively with various constituencies.
The Development Director, Miami-Dade County will be responsible for implementing and directing a successful annual campaign with particular emphasis on prospect outreach, major gifts, direct solicitations, community and special events (including corporate dinners), planned giving, foundation grants, endowment support, new leadership development and campaign communications.

Responsibilities Include:
- Planning, organizing and managing an annual campaign in Miami-Dade county.
- Assuming a portfolio of donors and conducting direct solicitations.
- Developing a major gifts program including identification, cultivation and solicitation as well as supporting a lay major gifts team and program.
- Developing outreach strategies to encourage new gifts, as well as increasing current donor contributions at all levels.
- Overseeing donor recognition events and functions.
- Building the number of donors contributing at donor society giving levels.
- Building a pipeline of prospects guided by moves management principles.
- Boosting the engagement of lay leaders within the Development function.
- Participating in AJC Miami’s nominations and leadership cultivation efforts.
- Stewarding the relationship between current donors and AJC, seeking to increase their commitment and giving.
- Coordinating with National staff on development policies, initiatives, annual development goals, and participation in National programs.
- Overseeing two major corporate honoree dinners.
- Overseeing strategic follow-up with donors and prospects.
- Ensuring the proper keeping of donor records and the transmittal of funds.
- Working closely with AJC Miami’s Regional Director and board/volunteer leadership to provide training, education, organization and guidance in their development activities.
- Coordinating with local program staff to ensure donors are engaged and aware of AJC’s impact.
- Performing other tasks needed to support overall office effectiveness.
Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will have extensive knowledge of, and a strong commitment to Jewish issues and the objectives of AJC. The ideal candidate will be an experienced development professional with a proven track record of fund-raising success, direct solicitation, and significant experience in major gifts, special events, and general campaign management.
Specifically, the finalist will meet the following criteria:
- University degree required.
- 8-10 years of Development experience including major gifts is required.
- Capable of opening new territories and developing robust donor pipelines.
- Goal-oriented campaign strategist who can create and execute a multi-faceted vision and plan for increased financial resource development results;
- Self-starter who can work independently and collaborate with professional colleagues and volunteer leadership;
- Flexible and creative and strategic thinker able to develop new ways to engage potential and existing donors, create new giving opportunities and programs;
- Outstanding written and oral communication skills;
- Experienced in developing board members and increasing their level of participation in the fundraising process;
- Flexible and creative and strategic thinker able to develop new ways to engage potential and existing donors, create new giving opportunities and programs;
- Flexibility with schedule (occasional morning, evening and weekends)
- Proficiency in Raiser’s Edge and Microsoft Office (or is a proven quick learner)
- Able to enthusiastically support and promote AJC’s mission and values.
- Familiarity with the Miami area and demographics is a plus.

The salary range for this position is $120,000 to $150,000, depending on relevant experience.
