Development Director

Dallas

AJC’s Dallas Office is a fast-paced, highly effective organization that demands creativity, commitment and a passion for AJC’s advocacy mission. The successful candidate will join an AJC office that is on a growth trajectory and features a highly engaged and entrepreneurial leadership team. AJC Dallas conducts engages in advocacy with elected officials, the local diplomatic corps, and prominent civic and religious leaders.   AJC Dallas is in the process of strategically expanding its sphere of operations, increasing its Regional impact to Tulsa, Oklahoma City, Fort Worth and Austin.

The ideal candidate will be a smart, high-energy self-starter who combines organizational acumen and professionalism with knowledge of the Dallas Jewish community, corporate community, as well as the larger philanthropic and corporate sectors.  The candidate must also be a consummate team player who works effectively with various constituencies.  

The Development Director in Dallas will be responsible for stewarding and growing a $650,000 annual campaign. S/he will be responsible for partnering with lay and professional staff to create, implement and direct a successful campaign with particular emphasis on major gifts development, donor recognition societies, personal solicitations, special events, and planned giving, The Development Director will work to cultivate new gifts from Regional population centers outside of Dallas.

The Development Director does all of this while adhering to AJC’s core values: Respect, Teamwork, Integrity, Excellence, and Accountability.

Responsibilities include:

  • Planning, organizing and managing the annual campaign, including fundraising events and individual solicitations
  • Developing a major gifts program including identification, cultivation and solicitation
  • Building a prospect pipeline
  • Maximizing engagement and impact of lay leaders in the development process
  • Creating both broad and individualized strategies to enhance the relationships between Donor Recognition Society Members and AJC.
  • Coordinating with National staff on development policies, marketing initiatives, annual development goals, and participation in National programs
  • Overseeing strategic follow-up with donors and prospects
  • Overseeing prospect and donor records and the transmittal of funds
  • Creating a regular email newsletter to inform donors and prospects about AJC’s activities and impact
  • Performing other tasks as needed to support overall office effectiveness.

Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will be an experienced development professional with a proven track record of fundraising success and significant experience in major gifts, corporate and special events, and general campaign management.  S/he will have extensive knowledge of, and a strong commitment to, Jewish issues and the objectives of AJC. 

Specifically, the finalist will meet the following criteria:

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • 7 plus years of relevant experience is required
  • Self-starter who can work both independently and collaboratively
  • Flexible and creative and strategic thinker
  • Outstanding written and oral communication skills
  • Proficiency in Raiser’s Edge (or is a proven quick learner)
  • Able to enthusiastically support and promote AJC’s mission and values.
  • Familiarity with the Dallas Jewish community.
  • A sense of humor
