Melissa Spence comes to AJC from Georgetown University’s Edmund A. Walsh School of Foreign Service, where she served most recently as Associate Director of the Program for Jewish Civilization (PJC). While there, she was instrumental in establishing the Jan Karski Institute for Holocaust Education. Prior to her ten years working to build that new academic program, she directed the Holocaust Awareness Institute at the University of Denver’s Center for Judaic Studies. Spence is a graduate of Michigan State University with a B.A. in Interdisciplinary Humanities. She has an M.A. in Arts Administration from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, and an M.B.A. from Georgetown University.
