Agnieszka Markiewicz

Agnieszka Markiewicz is director of the Shapiro Silverberg AJC Central Europe office, based in Warsaw, which covers seven countries – Czechia, Estonia, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, and Slovakia. She joined AJC after serving for eight years as Director of External Relations at the Forum for Dialogue, a Warsaw-based NGO focusing on Polish-Jewish dialogue and reconciliation. Before that, she worked at the Adam Mickiewicz Institute, a governmental agency for promoting Polish culture around the world, which involved, among other things, the "Polish Year in Israel.” Previously, Agnieszka co-organized the Gniezno Convention, the largest multireligious conference on Judaism, Christianity, and Islam in Poland. She also worked at a major PR agency on a number of large-scale projects, including one for the government of Spain. She speaks Polish, English, French, and some Russian. Agnieszka received undergraduate and graduate degrees in sociology from the University of Warsaw, writing her master's thesis on the identity of third-generation Polish Jews.
