AJC Belfer Institute for Latino and Latin American Affairs
AJC is seeking a Fellow to provide support to its Belfer Institute for Latino and Latin American Affairs (BILLA). We are looking for a recent graduate or graduate student with experience in congressional affairs, Latin America foreign policy and/or a related field. Applicants must have strong interpersonal and communication abilities as well as excellent research, writing and editing skills. Familiarity with event planning, attention to detail and ability to self-motivate are critical. Spanish language skills are required.
The Fellow will work out of AJC's Washington, DC office. He/she will be involved in every aspect of the Institute's work, including diplomatic, international and intergroup relations. Responsibilities also include assisting with logistics and planning for the Institute’s missions and special programming. The fellow will receive high-level mentorship from senior AJC staff and work closely with them to build new and improve relations between the U.S., Latin America and Israel; foster closer relationships with the leaders of the Jewish communities in Latin America; promote democracy and human rights throughout the Hemisphere and establish coalitions with Latino communities in the United States.
The Belfer Institute for Latino and Latin American Affairs (BILLA) is a unique initiative that strengthens the Jewish community’s bonds of friendship with growing U.S. Latino communities and the countries of Latin America, Spain, and Portugal. BILLA partners with local Jewish communities and other sectors of civil society to promote relations among their countries, the U.S., and Israel. BILLA is headquartered in Washington, D.C., with additional staff in Miami and São Paulo.
A commitment of 25 hours/week is required. The Fellowship duration is planned for seven months, with the possibility to extend. A $1600/month stipend is provided.
