Representatives Don Beyer and Pete Olson

The View from the House: Representatives Don Beyer and Pete Olson on the NO HATE Act

Hate crimes in the United States are on the rise, yet our nation’s ability to address this increase is hindered by a lack of information about these crimes. In 2018, more than 80 cities with a population over 100,000 failed to report hate crimes to the FBI. Why are Jews, despite making up less than two-percent of the U.S population, the target of nearly sixty-percent of all religious based crimes? What steps must the federal government take to encourage accurate hate crimes data collection and reporting? Join Representatives Don Beyer (D-VA) and Pete Olson (R-TX) for a bipartisan discussion on the NO HATE Act, a bill they introduced in the house that seeks to leverage funds granted to state and local municipalities to drive the law enforcement community to improve tracking and reporting of hate crimes.

President of Argentina Alberto Fernández

Remembrance and Justice: A Special Conversation with the President of Argentina, H.E. Alberto Fernández, on the 26th Anniversary of the AMIA attack

It has been twenty-six years since AMIA – the institutional heart of Argentine Jewry – was targeted in the single deadliest antisemitic incident since WWII, perpetrated by Iran's proxy, Hezbollah. Over the past several years, after a turbulent investigative journey, Argentina has laudably identified Iran as responsible for the terrorist attack, designated all of Hezbollah as a terrorist organization, and adopted the IHRA Working Definition of Antisemitism, with AJC’s active encouragement and support. Today, President Alberto Fernández is strengthening ties with the U.S., with Israel, and with the Jewish community in Argentina and around the world. Join AJC for this historic conversation with President Fernández as we pay tribute to the 85 victims of the AMIA attack and raise our collective voices against terrorism and antisemitism in all its forms.

June 23, 2020

A brilliant scholar, effective advocate, and the first woman to serve as U.S. Secretary of State (1997-2001), Madeleine Albright is a crucial voice for this fraught moment, as radical ideologies, social unraveling, and the COVID-19 pandemic threaten the hard-won post war global order. As UN Ambassador and Secretary of State in the Clinton administration, and as a private citizen since, Secretary Albright has been a champion of American global leadership and of our international alliances. Secretary Albright joins AJC to discuss the state of the world and where America must go from here.
