The UN’s Increased Focus on Antisemitism: A Conversation with High Representative Miguel Moratinos

The UN’s historic report last year on antisemitism contained a number of recommendations to meet the rising global threat, including the appointment of a senior-level UN “focal point” on antisemitism. UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres followed through and has now tapped Miguel Moratinos, High Representative for the UN Alliance of Civilizations and former Foreign Minister of Spain, to assume that critical portfolio. A Conversation with Nick Cannon
August 10, 2020

Nick Cannon is an American comedian, rapper, producer, and television host. He recently came under fire after making antisemitic comments on his podcast and YouTube show, Cannon's Class. Cannon has repeatedly made public apologies and has spent the past few weeks going through a process of multiple meetings with AJC and others to gain a deeper understanding of Judaism and antisemitism.

On August 10, 2020, Cannon joined AJC's Director of Interreligious and Intergroup Relations Rabbi Noam Marans for a candid conversation about his commitment to learning from this experience; his fight against antisemitism, racism, and all forms of hate - and the importance of Black-Jewish relations. It was Cannon’s first appearance on a Jewish program.
