About Lauren & Jim

Lauren and Jim fell in love at Columbia University School of Law. They married after 2nd year and settled in Atlanta following graduation. Prior to law school, Lauren graduated magna cum laude from Duke, where she was a four year varsity tennis player, and Jim graduated summa cum laude from Penn.

Lauren practiced law at Alston & Bird and was named a partner in 1992. Since retiring, she has devoted her working life to a wide range of civic pursuits; serving on the Boards and/or Executive Committees of AJC, The Atlanta Speech School, Atlanta Women’s Foundation, Hebrew Union College Board of Overseers, Jewish Federation of Greater Atlanta, JF&CS and The Temple. At The Temple, Lauren has served as President since 2016, having previously been the founding chair of the Weinberg Early Learning Center and co-author of The Temple’s 2007 Strategic Plan. At AJC, Lauren served as an officer for several years and as President from 2013 to 2015.

Jim was Head of Corporate Finance at Prudential Securities before joining TM Capital in 2001, where he became CEO in 2008. Jim’s community work is anchored by almost two decades as a Trustee of the Marcus Foundation. Since its inception, Jim has served as Director, Audit Chair, and Treasurer of the Georgia Aquarium, and he is a founding board member of Hands On Atlanta. From 2008 to 2010, Jim served as President of The Temple and, more recently, co-chaired the Dream For Tomorrow Endowment Campaign at The Temple, raising nearly $40 million. Lauren and Jim are the only couple in The Temple’s 150-year history to have both served as Presidents.

Lauren and Jim have three wonderful children – Katie, Emily and Dylan – and two recent additions, Mark and Chase. They have just welcomed their first grandchild, Henry Benjamin, courtesy of Katie and Mark.
