AJC is deeply concerned about the global intellectual assault on Israel that we have witnessed over the past years, and that has been intensifying in recent months. Our resources are tailored to educating members and supporters who want to effectively take on anti-Israel and antisemitic rhetoric in the public debate.
The week of March 2-9 has been labelled the Fifth Annual Israeli Apartheid Week, with some events being planned in major cities. This is a quest against human rights disguised as a quest FOR human rights.
Obviously, the comparison between Israel and Apartheid-era South Africa is one that is intended to demonize Israelis and suggest that Israel has no right to exist. This has been a staple of anti-Israel organizing for a long time, but particularly following the UN’s 2001 World Conference Against Racism, Racial Discrimination, Xenophobia and Related Intolerance in Durban. The European Monitoring Centre on Racism and Xenophobia has created a working definition of antisemitism that includes extreme anti-Israel expressions such as this one.
Each of us can play a crucial role in changing this equation.
