The Development Intern is primarily responsible for supporting fundraising programming and efforts through research, event preparation and implementation. The resource development program builds and maintains leadership and relationships to support the important work of AJC.
Development programs include plate dinners honoring community leaders, exclusive speaker's events for various giving society members, missions abroad, as well as individual solicitations, grant submissions and planned giving.
Primary responsibilities consist of assisting the Associate Development Director and working in partnership with lay leaders to implement giving society events for President's Council, Los Angeles Leadership Council, and National Leadership Council, Comedy with a Cause, assisting with the production of attractive and compelling printed development material, coordinating leadership development with program staff, and conducting ongoing donor relations.
Major themes emphasize AJC's unique approach to advocacy and diplomacy on behalf of the Jewish community, as well as the distinct staff - lay leader partnership that is a hallmark of AJC. In addition, development efforts leverage the impressive achievements and important work of the agency to elicit support from donors, members and organizations.
Desired qualifications include an engaging, yet diplomatic and polished demeanor as well as excellent writing and communication skills. Extensive knowledge of Jewish community individuals and institutions, academic grounding in a relevant field and pertinent experience is also critical.

The International Relations Intern is primarily responsible for supporting IR programming through research, event preparation and implementation. AJC's IR program builds and maintains relationships with more than 60 local and regional consulates and representatives of the diplomatic corps to advance AJC's IR agenda.
IR programs include consular meetings, national days/cultural events and guest speakers in addition to communications with consulates as dictated by world events.
Primary responsibilities consist of assisting the Program Director and working in partnership with lay leaders to implement AJC's Diplomatic Marathon at the UN General Assembly, Promoting Tolerance tour for young leaders from emerging democracies, Channukah Party for agency and community leaders, Annual Luncheon, Consular Corps Tour of Jewish Los Angeles as well as supporting foreign diplomatic missions attended by AJC leadership.
Major themes emphasize confronting Iran's quest for nuclear weapons technology, energy security, support for Israel, ending the genocide in Darfur as well as addressing regional and/or bilateral issues in order to advance democratic values and build mutual understanding.

David Duke, a neo-Nazi and former Ku Klux Klan leader, was elected to the Louisiana House of Representatives in 1989 as a Republican. Thereafter he ran for Senator and Governor, and almost won. Beth Rickey, a Republican State Committeewoman, made exposing Duke her mission in life. She followed him to neo-Nazi meetings, found him selling Holocaust-denying materials from his legislative office, and organized a group which helped expose Duke's racist and antisemitic beliefs and activities. She died last year, but left her Duke materials to AJC. The task for a summer intern will be:
- Organize and catalogue these materials
- Write up a description of the collection, and its importance.
The intern will work closely with the director of the division on anti-Semitism and extremism, who will supply the intern with three books to read and some additional material as background to understanding the project.

AJC's Department of Individual Giving is seeking an enthusiastic and detail oriented intern to conduct research for the purposes of major gifts fundraising. The Intern will have an opportunity to work with a dynamic, growing department, use research tools and fundraising software and learn about key aspects of donor relations and donor prospecting.
Responsibilities will include hands-on projects and the analysis and development of prospect profiles. The candidate should have good analytic and writing skills and be interested in the field of fundraising.

AJC's Division on Russian Jewish Affairs is seeking an enthusiastic, well-organized, and responsible Research Intern to provide support for the Division's ongoing operations, projects, and new initiatives. We are looking for a Russian-speaking undergraduate or graduate student who has an interest in international relations, public affairs, Russian-Jewish communities in the U.S. and abroad, and political science. Recent high school graduates with proven abilities, a mature attitude, and recommendations will also be considered.
Responsibilities include: assistance in recruiting participants and organizing AJC's Russian Leadership Training Program; monitoring national and local English and Russian media and web sites on subjects on anti-Semitism; working on AJC's Russian-American web site; organize research and office documents and materials; assist with research projects and gathering of information for upcoming publications; provide general office and administrative support.

ACCESS, AJC's New Generations Program, is seeking an intern to help promote and develop young leadership within AJC. The intern will be involved in every aspect of the department's work including international relations, intergroup relations, and campus societies. The intern will be responsible for promoting the more effective use of new web technologies, developing and implementing programs and events for members, and conducting research on topics of interest. The intern will also work with the ACCESS team to engage with diplomats and experts, organize national conferences, promote Israel activities on the campuses, and support emerging leadership programs around the country.
The intern will receive high-level mentorship from senior staff members.
We are seeking either part-time or full-time with a minimum commitment of two months during the summer. Ability to attend programs and functions in the evenings and on weekends is a plus.

Green Summer Intern New York, NY
General Overview:
It is the intention of AJC that its headquarters building located in New York, NY 10022, prepare for re-certification of LEED EBOM. LEED is an internationally recognized certification system that measures how well a building performs energy savings, water efficiency, improved indoor environmental quality, and stewardship of resources. LEED EBOM is a green building certification for operation and maintenance of an existing building. AJC received LEED gold certification in May of 2011 and will need to re-certify in 2016.
In support of this intention, the Office Services Department would like to have an intern to coordinate various tracking projects. The particular tasks and skills are enumerated below.
Description:
The intern will work as part of a team to identify low cost improvements that reduce energy and operating costs of our building. He/She will perform basic analysis, research, collect data, provide records and write descriptions as part of providing documentation towards re-certification. He/She will assist in finding products that are certified green. The Intern will compile green cleaning and recycling log sheets, develop a lighting plan, learn about a building management system, and review water fixtures for savings.
Qualifications:

AJC's Asia Pacific Institute (API) is seeking an enthusiastic, well-organized, and responsible Intern to provide support for the Institute's ongoing projects and new initiatives. We are looking for an undergraduate or graduate student who is passionate about the Jewish people and has an interest in international relations, public affairs, political science and/or history. Background in Asian studies and experience in Asia is preferable. Capability in an Asian language, especially Mandarin, is preferable. API covers South Asia, East Asia, Southeast Asia, and the Pacific.
The intern will work out of AJC's Washington, DC office as part of the Asia Pacific Institute. He/she will be involved in every aspect of API's work, including helping develop international relations, monitoring events and trends, attending conferences and briefings, conducting special research projects and writing briefing papers. The intern will receive mentorship and work closely with AJC staff to strengthen relations among the U.S., Israel and the nations of Asia Pacific. There may be some involvement with the Jewish communities of Asia Pacific as needed. The intern will also have an opportunity to participate in some other AJC events unrelated to Asia Pacific. Some administrative support will be required.

Latino and Latin American Affairs Institute, Kovadloff Fellowship in Latin American Affairs

The Kovadloff Fellowship in Latin
American Affairs is designed to develop future
leaders in the areas of international and domestic politics, diplomacy and
public relations with a special interest in Latino and Latin American affairs.
The fellow will work out of AJC’s Washington, DC
office as part of the Latino and Latin American Institute. He/she will be
involved in every aspect of the Institute’s work, including international and
intergroup relations, and special research projects. The fellow will receive
high-level mentorship from senior AJC staff and work closely with them to build
new and improve relations between the U.S., Latin America and Israel; express
solidarity with Jewish communities in Latin America; promote democracy, human
rights, and stability throughout the Hemisphere and establish coalitions with
Latino communities in the United States.
Fellows must be excited to engage the world
through a Jewish lens, have a passion for making a difference, and an interest
in exploring the venues for cooperation between Latinos and Jews and among
Latin American countries and their Jewish communities. Spanish language
skills are required.
The Kovadloff Fellowship in Latin American Affairs
honors Jacob Kovadloff, a cherished member of the AJC family whose lifelong
contributions made an everlasting impact on Latin American and world Jewry.
Jacob devoted his life to defending the Jewish people, building bridges with
other communities, fighting for human rights and democracy, and strengthening
ties between the United States and Latin America.
The Latino and Latin American Institute is an AJC
initiative to further American Jewish relations with the Latino community in
the U.S. and governments and Jewish communities across Latin America. The
Institute works with AJC partners in the region to strengthen Jewish life,
deter terrorism, ensure that democracy and pluralism remain strong, and advance
relations between Latin American countries and the U.S. and Israel.
This is a one-year paid Fellowship, starting May
2012.
