The Development Intern is primarily responsible for supporting fundraising programming and efforts through research, event preparation and implementation. The resource development program builds and maintains leadership and relationships to support the important work of AJC.
Development programs include plate dinners honoring community leaders, exclusive speaker’s events for various giving society members, missions abroad, as well as individual solicitations, grant submissions and planned giving.
Primary responsibilities consist of assisting the Associate Development Director and working in partnership with lay leaders to implement giving society events for President’s Council, Los Angeles Leadership Council, and National Leadership Council, Comedy with a Cause, assisting with the production of attractive and compelling printed development material, coordinating leadership development with program staff, and conducting ongoing donor relations.
Major themes emphasize AJC’s unique approach to advocacy and diplomacy on behalf of the Jewish community, as well as the distinct staff - lay leader partnership that is a hallmark of AJC. In addition, development efforts leverage the impressive achievements and important work of the agency to elicit support from donors, members and organizations.
Desired qualifications include an engaging, yet diplomatic and polished demeanor as well as excellent writing and communication skills. Extensive knowledge of Jewish community individuals and institutions, academic grounding in a relevant field and pertinent experience is also critical.

The International Relations Intern is primarily responsible for supporting IR programming through research, event preparation and implementation. AJC’s IR program builds and maintains relationships with more than 60 local and regional consulates and representatives of the diplomatic corps to advance AJC’s IR agenda.
IR programs include consular meetings, national days/cultural events and guest speakers in addition to communications with consulates as dictated by world events.
Primary responsibilities consist of assisting the Program Director and working in partnership with lay leaders to implement AJC’s Diplomatic Marathon at the UN General Assembly, Promoting Tolerance tour for young leaders from emerging democracies, Channukah Party for agency and community leaders, Annual Luncheon, Consular Corps Tour of Jewish Los Angeles as well as supporting foreign diplomatic missions attended by AJC leadership.
Major themes emphasize confronting Iran’s quest for nuclear weapons technology, energy security, support for Israel, ending the genocide in Darfur as well as addressing regional and/or bilateral issues in order to advance democratic values and build mutual understanding.
Desired qualifications include an engaging, yet diplomatic demeanor as well as excellent writing and communication skills. Extensive knowledge of international issues and institutions, academic grounding in a relevant field and pertinent experience is also critical.

Primary responsibilities consist of assisting the Program Director and working in partnership with lay leaders to implement AJC’s Project Interchange first-time trips to Israel for non-Jewish leaders, Channukah Party and Annual Luncheon for agency and community leaders, and Israel Independence Day events and celebrations.
Major themes comprise Israel’s positive contributions to the world in the fields of science, medicine, technology, culture and art as well as promoting a nuanced, thoughtful examination of regional security issues. AJC Israel Affairs also responds in a strategic fashion to current local, national and international events. Other themes include confronting Iran’s quest for nuclear weapons technology, energy security as well as addressing regional and/or bilateral issues in order to advance democratic values and build mutual understanding.

The American Jewish Committee is a 103-year-old international Jewish advocacy organization headquartered in New York, NY. The director on antisemitism and extremism is beginning a writing project (possibly the length of a short book with many parts which can be pulled out and used independently) to highlight best practices against the current movement seeking to promote boycotts, sanctions, and divestment against the state of Israel.
The Intern will work closely with the director, and will: 1) research, gather, organize, and print background materials about pro- and anti-boycott activities and history, 2) help identify people to interview for this project, and help coordinate and transcribe those interviews, and 3) otherwise assist the director in this project.
A minimum commitment of 14 hrs/week for a minimum of 15 weeks is required. Start date is immediate. The position is unpaid. We will cover public transportation expenses and lunch.

Arthur and Rochelle Belfer Center for American Pluralism, Reseach Intern

The Belfer Center advances the fundamental values of diversity and democracy to assure America’s vision as a nation where Jews and all peoples can flourish with mutual understanding and respect.
We are looking for an undergraduate or graduate student interested in the interplay between Jewish communal affairs, interethnic relations, and U.S. domestic policy. We welcome applicants with a passion for immigration issues, in particular. Candidates should have strong writing, researching and editing skills. Interest in journalism is a plus.
An intern will:
· Research and write articles for our website. Articles will report on Belfer Center programs, and cover topics relevant to our work and mission.
· Assist our staff in the preparation for upcoming intergroup leadership workshops, conferences, and events.
A minimum commitment of 8 hrs/ week for minimum of 10 weeks is required. Start date is immediate. The position is unpaid. We will, however, cover public transportation to and from the office.

Responsibilities: Interns are given an introduction to basic archival work. Duties include assisting in research requests, scanning, and assisting in the processing of collections.

Responsibilities may include:
- Liaising with guest speakers

- Marketing the Annual Meeting and encouraging participation

We are looking for a mature college student who has an interest in domestic policy, including immigration reform and/or energy security. Background in public policy and/or political science, and/or interfaith relations and coalition building is desirable, but not necessary. Recent high school graduates with proven abilities, a mature attitude, and recommendations will also be considered.
Responsibilities may include:
- Provide organizational support for Chapter’s lead role in the organizing of the New York State Interfaith Network for Just and Humane Immigration Reform; Carry out research projects, assemble briefings and monitor NY State legislation relating to energy security, energy independence and energy efficiency;
- Assist with AJC’s New York State Energy Advocacy Task Force and “Project New Car,” AJC’s plug-in and hybrid vehicle initiative;
- Attend and help prepare for Board of Directors meetings and Board Committee meetings;
- Provide general office and administrative support.

General Overview
American Jewish Committee, located at 155 E. 56th Street, New York, NY 10022, is applying for LEED certification. LEED is an internationally recognized certification system that measures how well a building performs energy savings, water efficiency, CO2 emissions reduction, indoor environmental quality, and the stewardship of resources and sensitivity to their impacts. LEED certification is achieved through a process of awarding credits to reflect their potential environmental impacts. The Office Services Department would like to use an intern to coordinate various aspects of this project. The particular tasks and skills are enumerated below.
Description:
The intern will work as part of a team to identify low cost improvements that reduce energy and operating costs of our building. He/She will perform basic analysis, research, collect data, provide records and write descriptions of the various building systems. This work will also include tracking progress of improvements and taking before and after pictures of upgrades. He/She will assist in finding products that are certified green and monitor our usage. The person will attend Green Building meetings at AJC and the NYC Green Building Council.
The intern will work on credits for a Building Management System and metering, light pollution reduction, cooling tower chemical management, building operation plan, refrigerant management, water fixtures and commissioning.
Qualifications:

Latino and Latin American Affairs Institute, Kovadloff Internship in Latin American Affairs

The Kovadloff Internship in Latin American Affairs is designed to develop future leaders in the areas of international and domestic politics, diplomacy and public relations with a special interest in Latino and Latin American affairs.
The intern will work out of AJC’s Washington, DC office as part of the Latino and Latin American Institute. He/she will be involved in every aspect of the Institute’s work, including international and intergroup relations, and special research projects. The intern will receive high-level mentorship from senior AJC staff and work closely with them to build new and improve relations between the U.S., Latin America and Israel; express solidarity with Jewish communities in Latin America; promote democracy, human rights, and stability throughout the Hemisphere and establish coalitions with Latino communities in the United States.
Interns must be excited to engage the world through a Jewish lens, have a passion for making a difference, and an interest in exploring the venues for cooperation between Latinos and Jews and among Latin American countries and their Jewish communities. Spanish language skills are required.
The Kovadloff Internship in Latin American Affairs honors Jacob Kovadloff, a cherished member of the AJC family whose lifelong contributions made an everlasting impact on Latin American and world Jewry. Jacob devoted his life to defending the Jewish people, building bridges with other communities, fighting for human rights and democracy, and strengthening ties between the United States and Latin America.
The Latino and Latin American Institute is an AJC initiative to further American Jewish relations with the Latino community in the U.S. and governments and Jewish communities across Latin America. The Institute works with AJC partners in the region to strengthen Jewish life, deter terrorism, ensure that democracy and pluralism remain strong, and advance relations between Latin American countries and the U.S. and Israel.
