Who We Are

The AJC Cincinnati Chapter, founded in 1944, has almost 600 families with a deep commitment to improving intergroup relations. The Chapter combats bigotry and works to promote tolerance and mutual respect.

Chapter Programs

  1. Hands Across the Campus, AJC's high school diversity program, helps faculty and students create strategies for building intergroup respect, confronting prejudice, and resolving conflicts.  AJC Cincinnati Chapter offers training for teachers at workshops each semester.   We look forward to welcoming you to our network of Hands schools.
  2.   1. Our energy committee advocates for reducing dependence on foreign sources and encouraging "green" solutions.
  2. An ongoing series offers pastors and church leaders the opportunity to hear local rabbis speak about Israel from a personal perspective.
  3. Every spring since 1994, the Cincinnati Chapter celebrates the Jewish festival of freedom with our friends from other racial, ethnic, and religious groups at the Community Intergroup Seder.  
  4. Elected officials learn about AJC's public policy positions at ongoing meetings with legislators.
  5. AJC celebrates Thanksgiving by reading America's Table with our inter-ethnic partners at a festive lunch.
  6. The Cincinnati Chapter builds bridges of understanding between Catholics and Jews, especially clergy in training at the Athenaeum and the Hebrew Union College.
  7. The Cincinnati Chapter forges ties to the growing Hispanic community.
  8. The annual Simon Lazarus Jr. Human Relations Awards honor dozens of outstanding student volunteers nominated by area high schools for their good deeds.
  9. The Cincinnati Chapter participates in Greater Cincinnati Advocates for Darfur, Cincinnati Coalition for Comprehensive Immigration Reform, Metropolitan Area Religious Coalition of Cincinnati, and Citizens School Committee
