Building on the momentum of the groundbreaking ACCESS Summit 2013 that brought international Jewish activists together from across the political spectrum to tackle Israel’s delegitimization and build bridges with the Latino and Muslim communities, the ACCESS Summit in 2014 will focus on positioning emerging Jewish activists, and select thought leaders from around the world, to engage on some of the most critical issues affecting the Jewish and global communities today as well. Attendees will also have the opportunity to take part in hands-on skill building workshops designed to prepare activists and volunteers for effective advocacy and community engagement. Global Jewish Diplomacy 2.0

What does diplomacy look like in 2014?

With the rise of new and less centralized models and strategies for diplomacy, there is a need to build strong relationships with decentralized communities and individuals, harness the power of new media, and keep pace in a rapidly changing world.

To advance our priorities in Israel, the Middle East, and around the world, we must build strong relationships with the rising centers of influence. Our generation can leverage our values, expertise, and networks to navigate this new, uncharted diplomatic terrain.

The Summit is a rare opportunity to connect with other young and energetic leaders, share best practices, and benefit from AJC resources and expertise to gain world-class training in leadership. We offer hands-on sessions devoted to practical skills such as fundraising, diplomatic training, social media workshops, program design, and other skills that will position ACCESS leaders for maximum impact and enable participants to put into action ideas from other Summit sessions.

Here are some of the issues you can expect to discuss at the ACCESS Summit:

  • What does Israel Advocacy look like in the new global context?
  • What diplomatic opportunities and challenges does technology pose?
  • How can young advocates best utilize technology to get their message out?
  • How has the youth activism of the Arab Spring affected the culture of the Middle East?
  • How shall we connect to vital communities that lack a centralized representation?
  • How shall we forge connections between our community partners and Israel and worldwide Jewish priorities?

At the AJC ACCESS Summit you will...

1. JOIN THE LARGEST GATHERING OF YOUNG JEWISH ACTIVISTS
Only the ACCESS Summit allows you to be part of the largest global gathering of young Jewish activists. Previous conferences in 2011, 2012, and 2013 included more than 400 participants from 18 US states and 33 countries, including over 110 international activists.

2. CREATE NETWORKS
The ACCESS Summit brings together leaders from the campus, young professional, human rights, media and many other arenas who all share the common goals of protecting global Jewry, building bridges between communities and engaging meaningfully on Israel as an advocate. By joining this network, you are positioning yourself at the forefront of today’s critical challenges and creating links and connections with potential allies and friends around the world.

3. BUILD CRITICAL SKILLS
The ACCESS Summit tackles the relevant challenges facing the global Jewish community and helps build practical skill-sets in order to find solutions to many of them. Throughout the ACCESS Summit, intimate workshops and breakout sessions are conducted by thought-leaders and opinion makers in order to provide participants a chance to learn from respected experts in the field.
