JOŠKO PARO, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Croatia to the United States of America.

Joško Paro was appointed Croatia’s Ambassador to the U.S. in 2012, and just today presented his credentials to President Barak Obama. Prior to this posting, Ambassador Paro served as the Foreign Policy Adviser to the President of Croatia. He has been in Croatia’s diplomatic service since 1992 and has served as that country’s Ambassador to the United Kingdom and the Netherlands.

From 1997 to 2002, Ambassador Paro served as Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs in charge of relations with Europe and other neighboring countries, as well as the U.S., Russia, Canada and Israel.

A seasoned negotiator, Ambassador Paro played a prominent role in the post-conflict normalization of Croatia’s relations with the other Balkan countries in the 1990s.
