History matters.

Without knowing where we were, it’s impossible to understand where we are.

There’s an important anniversary this week.

On November 29, 1947, the UN General Assembly voted for the Palestine Partition Plan.

It proposed two states – one Jewish, the other Arab – in land that had previously been administered by Britain.

The Jews accepted the plan. The Arabs rejected it.

Israel was established shortly afterward.

But no Arab state was created alongside it.

That was the first of several chances the Arabs had to build a nation for the Palestinians.

Tragically, each opportunity was met with a “no.” Destroying Israel remained the priority.

Sixty-five years have passed. So much has been lost by both sides in those precious decades.

Isn’t it high time to hear a clear “yes” from the Arab world?

The ball has been in the Arab court since 1947. How much longer will we all have to wait?
