In this season of partisan debate, it’s refreshing to see some bipartisanship efforts.

Strong majorities in the Senate and House recently spoke up against Hezbollah, the Lebanon-based terrorist group.

Over the years, the group has been implicated in murder and mayhem against American, Middle Eastern, European, South American, and other targets. Hezbollah is on the U.S. terrorism list, but, inexplicably, not on the European Union’s.

The congressional letters to EU officials called for European action.

As the Senate letter said, "A terrorist designation from the EU would not only subject Hezbollah to further sanctions, but would also send a message to Hezbollah that Europe and the United States will not tolerate its dangerous and violent tactics.”

At AJC, we salute the Congressional initiatives.

Israel’s legendary David Ben-Gurion once said, "There is no deception worse than self-deception."

It’s high time for Europe to see the truth about Hezbollah.
