The full text of this week's commentary follows:

The shooting rampage occurred on Sunday at a Sikh temple in Oak Creek, near Milwaukee.

Six innocent people were killed.

The victims were:

Sita Singh

Ranjit Singh

Prakash Singh

Suveg Singh

Paramjit Kaur

Satwant Singh Kaleka

Three others were injured, including police officer Brian Murphy. He's in critical condition after being shot at close range.

The perpetrator?

40-year-old army veteran Wade Michael Page.

Page legally bought the 9 mm. gun used in the deadly attack.

Reportedly, he was a neo-Nazi. He was part of a so-called "white power" band. He believed in racial war. The Sikhs were another race.

At AJC, we cherish America's openness and diversity that’s at the heart of this country.

We stand with our friends in the Sikh community in mourning the six victims.

And we pray for the full recovery of Lt. Murphy and the other wounded persons.
