  • Iraq, June 2007: In Baghdad, Iraqi army soldiers killed Abu Abdullah al-Adhab, an Al-Qa’ida cell leader in Baghdad. West of Baghdad, U.S. military forces killed Egyptian Abu Abd al-Rahman al-Masri, said to be a senior aide to Al-Qa’ida in Iraq leader Abu Ayyub al-Masri. In Al-Anbar province, U.S. forces killed Hussein Awad Hawwawi, a.k.a. Abu Thabet, a leader of Al-Qa’ida in Al-Anbar.  South of Hawija, Coalition forces killed three Al-Qa’ida leaders: Mehmet Yilmaz, a.k.a. Khalid al-Turki; Mehmet Resit Isik, a.k.a. Khalil al-Turki; and Ahmed Sancar, a.k.a. Khattab al-Turki. Mehmet Yilmaz operated a cell that facilitated the movement of foreign fighters into Iraq for Al-Qa’ida operations.
  • Philippines, June 2007: Filipino soldiers shot dead two Abu Sayyaf assassins, brothers Anni and Iting Sailani, implicated in dozens of killings including the murder of news photographer Gene Boyd Lumwag in November 2004.
  • Algeria, July 2007: Algerian security forces killed suicide bombing mastermind and adviser to Al-Qa’ida in North Africa, Rachid Sid Ali and his aide Haroun El Achaachi. Attacks plotted by Ali include the April 2007 triple suicide car bombings in Algiers that killed 33 people and the July 2007 suicide truck bombing at a military barracks in Kabylie that killed eight soldiers.
  • Russia, July 2007: Russian forces killed Chechen rebel leader Yunus Akhmadov, the leader of a Grozny terrorist cell.
  • Philippines, July 2007: Filipino forces killed two Abu Sayyaf-linked sub-commanders – Panjang and Ladji Mohammad, who had been operating in Basilan province.
  • Lebanon, August 2007: In Tripoli, Lebanese police killed Abu Hereira, a.k.a. Shehab al-Qaddour, the deputy commander of the Al-Qa’ida-linked Fatah al-Islam organization.
  • Iraq, August 2007: In two separate operations, coalition forces in Iraq killed Al-Qa’ida in Iraq leaders Haitham al-Badri, who headed the group in Samarra, and Ali Latif Ibrahim Hamad al-Falahi, a.k.a. Abu Ibrahim, who oversaw terrorist operations in northern Baghdad.
  • Russia, August 2007: In Grozny, Russian police killed Chechen leader Rustam Basayev.
  • Philippines, August 2007: In the southern Philippines, army forces killed Abu Sayyaf operative Abdul Majid.
  • Israel, August 2007: Israeli forces in Nablus killed the head of Islamic Jihad in the Balata Refugee Camp, Ra’ed Ali Hassan Ades, 28.
  • India, August 2007: Indian authorities killed Jaish-e-Mohammad divisional commander Kari Saifullah Aktar, believed to have masterminded the July 2005 attack on a religious complex in Ayodhya and suspected of having planned a major bomb attack set for Indian Independence Day in August 2007.
